Frederick Strouts(1834 – 18 December 1919) was a notable New Zealand architect. He was born inHothfield,Kent,England in 1834. He arrived inLytteltonin 1859 and lived inChristchurch.Notable buildings includeIvey HallatLincoln University,theCanterbury Clubbuilding, theLyttelton Harbour Boardbuilding, the Rhodes Convalescent Home inCashmere,Strowan House (now part ofSt Andrew's College), andOtahunahomestead onBanks Peninsula.He was supervising architect at theChurch of St Michael and All Angelsin Christchurch.[1]Strouts took onCecil Woodin 1893 when Wood was 15 years of age.[2]
