G. J. Meyer

Gerald J. Meyer(born 1940),[1]author and journalist, is a writer of historical non-fiction,[2]a formerWoodrow Wilson Fellowwith an M.A. in English literature from theUniversity of Minnesota.He holds aHarvard University'sNieman Fellowship in Journalismand has taught at colleges and universities inSt. Louis,Des Moines,and New York.

Meyer's first book wasThe Memphis Murderspublished in 1974 as Gerald Meyer. This received theEdgar Awardfor non-fiction. His next work wasExecutive Blues: Down and Out in Corporate America,which was largely a reaction to his being let go as a corporate public relations officer.[3]

His works includeThe Tudors: The Complete Story of England's Most Notorious Dynasty,[4]A World Undone: The Story of the Great War,The World Remade: American in World War I,Executive Blues: Down and Out in Corporate AmericaandThe Borgias: The Hidden History.HisThe Memphis Murdersreceived an Edgar Award for non-fiction from theMystery Writers of America.For a time Meyer lived inWiltshire, England.[5]At other times he has lived in New York.
