Gabriel Tanimu Adudais aNigeriancivil servantcurrently serving as the Permanent Secretary of theFederal Ministry of Petroleum Resources (Nigeria)[1],where he plays a crucial role in overseeing the operations and policies of the ministry. Additionally, Aduda holds the esteemed position ofOPECGovernor for Nigeria, representing the country's interests in the 186th Ordinary Meeting of the OPEC Conference of Ministers.[2]

In 2021, Aduda was appointed as the Permanent Secretary for theNigerian Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs.[3]He previously served as the Permanent Secretary in theNigerian Ministry of Youth and Sportsand was redeployed to the ministry of Foreign Affairs in December 2020.[4]Before becoming a permanent secretary, he previously served as Director, Economic Research and Policy Management with theFederal Ministry of Finance (Nigeria)and Head of Strategy and Reorientation at theEconomic and Financial Crimes Commission.[2]

Aduda has a BSc. in Geography and Planning from theUniversity of Jos,a Master’s Degree in Urban & Regional Planning from theUniversity of Ibadan(1998), and a Postgraduate Certificate in Corruption Studies from theUniversity of Hong Kong(2012).[5]He has also attended training courses, for example the "Improving Governance and Economic Development in Africa" at theWorld Bank InstituteinFreetown,Sierra Leone.[2]

Controversy[edit]

In 2017, a report bySahara Reporters,Premium Timesand some media outlets suggested that the Vice PresidentYemi Osinbajomay have appointed an unqualified person as a permanent secretary. This led to calls for his dismissal from the position.[6]The Coalition For F.C.T Indigenous Groups Association under Kamal Adamu Shaibu criticized these reports, as he claimed the controversial reports published in Premium Times,[7]Sahara Reporters[6]and other media outlets were sponsored by people who fruitlessly fought against the promotion of Gabrial Aduda to the position of a Director in Federal Civil Service.[8]
