Gaël Tallec(born 15 August 1976) is a French former professionalrugby leagueandrugby unionfootballer who played in the 1990s and 2000s. He played representative rugby league forFranceat the1995 World Cupand2000 World Cup.[2]

Playing career[edit]

Tallec was transferred from theLézignan Sangliersto theWigan Warriors(Heritage № 897) in 1995 and played for them for three seasons, appearing in thirty matches.[3]He played inWigan Warriors' 44-14 victory overSt. Helensin thePremiershipFinal duringSuper League IatOld Trafford,Manchesteron Sunday 8 September 1996.

TheCastleford Tigers(Heritage № 751) signed him from Wigan Warriors on 26 January 1998, where he played for them forty-six times over two years.[4]He finished hisSuper Leaguecareer withHalifaxin 2000, where he played in twenty-four matches.

Tallec switched codes and joinedRC Toulonnaisin late 2001.[5][6]

International career[edit]

Tallec first played forFrancein 1995 at theWorld Cup.He then competed at the1996 European Championshipfor France, scoring a try in their June defeat byWales.

He was one of several players to remain in the French squad for the2000 World Cupand he played in four matches during the tournament.[7]

Tallectoured New Zealand and Papua New Guinea in June–July 2001before he switched codes.[8][9]
