Background
[edit]Born in Cap-aux-Meules,Magdalen Islands,Quebec,the son of Arthur Farrah and Hilda Boudreau, he was educated in administration at theUniversity of Moncton.
Member of the legislature
[edit]Farrah was first elected to theNational Assembly of Quebecas the MNA forÎles-de-la-Madeleinein1985.He was re-elected twice, served as chief oppositionwhipfollowing the1994 electionsuntil his eventual defeat in1998to the Parti Québécois candidateMaxime Arseneau.
Federal politics
[edit]Farrah was member of theLiberal Party of Canadain theHouse of Commons of Canada,representing the riding ofBonaventure—Gaspé—Îles-de-la-Madeleine—Pabokfrom 2000 to 2004. Farrah is a former administrator. Farrah was Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food with special emphasis on Rural Development, and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans.
He lost his seat in the2004 electiontoBloc QuébécoiscandidateRaynald Blais.
