Gerald Seymour
Gerald Seymour(born 25 November 1941 inGuildford,Surrey) is a British writer of crime and espionage novels.
Early life
[edit]Gerald Seymour was born toWilliam Kean Seymourand his second wife,Rosalind Wade.[1]He was educated at Kelly College, now known asMount KellyinTavistock,Devon, and took a BA Hons degree in Modern History atUniversity College London.[citation needed]
Career
[edit]Initially a journalist, he joinedITNin 1963, covering such topics as theGreat Train Robbery,Vietnam War,The Troubles,theMunich Olympics massacre,Germany'sRed Army Faction,Italy'sRed BrigadesandPalestinian militant groups.His first book,Harry's Game,was published in 1975, and Seymour then became a full-time novelist, living in the West Country. In 1999, he featured in the Oscar-winning documentary,One Day in September,which portrayed the Munich massacre. He has been a full-time writer since 1978.
Television adaptations have been made of his booksHarry's Game,The Glory Boys,The Contract,Red Fox,The Informantbased onField of Blood,A Line in the SandandThe Waiting Time.
