Gilles Dumasis a Frenchrugby leaguefootball coach and former player. He is the coach of FrenchElite One Championshipclub,Saint-Gaudens Bearsand previouslyToulouse Olympique.He previously coached theFrench national teamwhile coaching Saint Gaudens in theElite 1Championship in the 1990s and 2000s.[2]Dumas was aFrance nationalrepresentative goal-kickingfullback,scrum- orstand-offhalf back in his playing days during the 1980s and 1990s.[3]

Playing career[edit]

In early 1986 Dumas was selected to play for theFrance national rugby league teamatfullbackin a match againstGreat Britainfor the1985–88 World Cuptournament, scoring atryand kicking agoalon his national debut. During the1986 Kangaroo tour of Great Britain and FranceDumas played for France in bothTest matchesagainst Australia, the first at fullback and the second from the bench. Playing as a scrum half but eventually settling into thestand-offposition, he continued representing France in matches for the1989–92 World Cuptournament as well.

Coaching career[edit]

Dumas starting coaching theFrance national rugby league teamin 1998. He coached the French in their campaign for the2000 World Cup.[4]Dumas was national coach for the2001 French rugby league tour of New Zealand and Papua New Guinea.During the2002 New Zealand rugby league tour of Great Britain and Francehe coached the France national team as they hosted the Kiwis. During the2003 Kangaroo tour of Great Britain and FranceDumas coached the France national team as they hosted the Australians.
