Giuseppe Lucchese(Italian:[dʒuˈzɛppelukˈkeːze;-eːse];born September 2, 1958^[1]), known asLucchisedduandOcchi di ghiaccio(Eyes of ice), is a member of theSicilian Mafiafrom theBrancaccioneighborhood inPalermo.He was one of the favourite hitmen of theCorleonesi,headed byTotò Riina,during theSecond Mafia Warin 1981–84.

Lucchese andVincenzo Pucciomurdered their bossGiuseppe "Pino" Grecoin 1985. Puccio replaced Greco and Lucchese became his substitute. Lucchese was given alife sentencein absentiaas part of theMaxi Trialin 1987.^[2]^[3]After the killing of Puccio on May 11, 1989, Lucchese became thecapo mandamentoof the Ciaculli-Brancaccio mafia families.^[4]

Lucchese is suspected of being one of the accomplices in the murders of the mafiosiStefano BontadeandSalvatore Inzerillo.He was arrested on April 1, 1990, and imprisoned for multiple murders. He received a life sentence for the murder ofCarabinieriGeneralCarlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa^[5]^[6]and the communist politicianPio La Torre^[7]both in 1982. He has been accused of 50 murders.^[8]
