Gluconokinase
Appearance
Inenzymology,agluconokinase(EC2.7.1.12) is anenzymethatcatalyzesthechemical reaction
- ATP + D-gluconateADP + 6-phospho-D-gluconate
Thus, the twosubstratesof this enzyme areATPandD-gluconate,whereas its twoproductsareADPand6-phospho-D-gluconate.
This enzyme belongs to the family oftransferases, specifically those transferring phosphorus-containing groups (phosphotransferases) with an alcohol group as acceptor. Thesystematic nameof this enzyme class isATP:D-gluconate 6-phosphotransferase.Other names in common use includegluconokinase (phosphorylating),andgluconate kinase. This enzyme participates inpentose phosphate pathway.
Structural studies
[edit]As of late 2007, 6structureshave been solved for this class of enzymes, withPDBaccession codes1KNQ,1KO1,1KO4,1KO5,1KO8,and1KOF.
