Government Seal of Bangladesh

TheGovernment Seal of Bangladesh(Bengali:বাংলাদেশ সরকারের সীলBangladesh Sarkarer Sil) is theofficial sealof thePeople's Republic of Bangladesh.It is used by theGovernment of Bangladeshin official documents including passports.[1]

The seal features the same design elements as the firstflag of Bangladeshin a circular setting. The outer white ring is shown with the caption of the official name of the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh (Bengali:গণপ্রজাতন্ত্রী বাংলাদেশ সরকার) with four red 5-pointed stars, symbolisingnationalism,socialism,democracy,secularismthe four key principles of the Republic enshrined in theConstitution.In the centre is the country map on a red disc.

History of the seal

The seal was adopted as the temporaryNational Emblem of Bangladeshby theProvisional Government of the People's Republic of Bangladeshpopularly known as theMujibnagar Government,which was thegovernment in exileofBangladeshbased inKolkata,India,during theBangladesh Liberation War.Formed in early April 1971, the provisional government confirmed the declaration of independence ofEast Pakistanmade earlier in the same year by Bengali nationalist leaderSheikh Mujibur Rahmanon 26 March.
