Gummiteis a yellow amorphous mixture ofuraniumminerals, oxides, silicates, and hydrates ofuranium,derived from the alteration ofuraninite.It is named for itsgum-likeluster.

The material has been known by various other names, mostly due to differences in sample origins, including: eliasite fromElias– the name of a mine atJáchymov,coracite – a variety fromLake Superior,pittinite, pechuran, urangummit, and uranogummite.
