HMSJonquilwas aFlower-classcorvetteof theBritishRoyal Navy.The corvette, named after the flower genusJonquil,served in theSecond World War.

Laid down by the companyFleming and Fergusonon 27 December 1939 andlaunchedon 9 July 1940,Jonquilentered service on 20 October and assumedconvoyresponsibilities the following month.[1]Her first deployment was as an escort for Convoy WS.5A, bound for the West African port ofFreetown.[1]

Jonquilsurvived the war but was relegated to the reserve atGibraltarfrom August 1945. Bought byGreece,the corvette was renamedLemnosand was converted into a merchant vessel. RedesignatedOlympic Riderin 1951,Jonquilsank after a collision withOlympic Cruiserin the Antarctic in 1955.[1]
