HMSJonquilwas aFlower-classcorvetteof theBritishRoyal Navy.The corvette, named after the flower genusJonquil,served in theSecond World War.

Laid down by the companyFleming and Fergusonon 27 December 1939 andlaunchedon 9 July 1940,Jonquilentered service on 20 October and assumedconvoyresponsibilities the following month.Her first deployment was as an escort for Convoy WS.5A, bound for the West African port ofFreetown.

Jonquilsurvived the war but was relegated to the reserve atGibraltarfrom August 1945. Bought byGreece,the corvette was renamedLemnosand was converted into a merchant vessel. RedesignatedOlympic Riderin 1951,Jonquilsank after a collision withOlympic Cruiserin the Antarctic in 1955.
