TheHVDC Three Gorges – Changzhouis an 940-kilometre (580 mi) long bipolarHVDCtransmission line inChinafor the transmission of electric power from theThree Gorgespower plant to the area ofChangzhou.
The transmission line went into service in 2004. It runs from the staticinverter station,Longquan,31 miles (50 km) away from the Three Gorgespower plantto the static inverter plant, Zhengping, near Changzhou. The HVDC Three Gorges-Changzhou is abipolar500kVpowerline with a maximumtransmission power ratingof 3,000megawatts.
A part of the line is theYangtze River Crossing Wuhuover Yangtze River using 229-metre (751 ft) tallpylons.
The electrode at Chujiahu is also used by HVDC Hubei - Shanghai for grounding.
