Halaesus

InGreek mythology,the nameHalaesusorHalesus(Latin:Alesi;Ancient Greek:Ἅλαισος,romanized:Hálaisos[1]) may refer to:
- Halesus, theEmathianLapithwho attended the wedding ofPirithousandHippodamia.[2]He was killed and stripped of his armor by theCentaurLatreusduring the battle between the Lapiths and the centaurs.[3]
- Halesus, a companion ofAgamemnonduring theTrojan War;some state that he was an illegitimate son of Agamemnon.[4]After the war, having escaped the massacre organized byClytaemnestraandAegisthusof Agamemnon and his retinue, he travelled toItalyand founded the city ofFalerii(nowCivita Castellana), which received its name after him.[5]He joinedTurnusin the war againstAeneas,[6]"not because he liked Turnus but because of the hate caused by his ancient hostility (towards Aeneas)", asServiusremarks.[4]He was killed byPallaswhile defendingImaon,a fellow warrior.[7]
