Hallie Marie Jackson(born April 29, 1984) is an American reporter and network anchor. She is the Senior Washington Correspondent forNBC News,an anchor for NBC News Now, and the anchor of the Sunday edition ofNBC Nightly News.She is also a substitute anchor forToday,Saturday Today,Sunday Today With Willie Geist,andNBC Nightly News.She worked inSalisbury, Maryland;Dover, Delaware;Hartford, Connecticut;New Haven, Connecticut;andBaltimore, Maryland,before joining NBC News in 2014.

Early life and education[edit]

Jackson was born on April 29, 1984,[2]inYardley, Pennsylvania,the daughter of Heidi and David Jackson.[3]In 2002, she graduated fromPennsbury High School.[4]In 2006, Jackson graduatedPhi Beta KappafromJohns Hopkins Universitywith aB.A.degree inpolitical science.[5]As an undergraduate at JHU, she joinedPhi Musorority.

Career[edit]

Jackson started her journalism career atWBOC-TV,inSalisbury, MarylandandDover, Delawarein 2006 until her departure forWFSB,inHartfordandNew Haven, Connecticut,during 2008.[6]Her career led toHearst Corporationin 2012, where she reported for their 26 stations fromWashington, D.C.In 2014, Jackson became a reporter and journalist forNBC News,[5]for which she covered theTed Cruz presidential campaignfor the network as their embedded reporter. In summer 2016, Jackson began anchoring the 1 p.m. ET edition ofMSNBC Live,NBC News' daytime coverage platform. In January 2017, NBC named Jackson as its chiefWhite House correspondent,while also stating that she would transition time slots and anchor MSNBC's 10:00 a.m. hour.[7]On September 20, 2021, Jackson moved to the 3 p.m. hour ofMSNBC Live.On November 17, 2021, Jackson began hostingHallie Jackson NOWon NBC News' streaming channel, NBC News NOW, which streams Mondays through Fridays at 5 p.m. ET.[8]Her streaming show will soon expand to two hours.

On May 27, 2020, Jackson was invited to and gave special remarks at her alma materJohns Hopkins University's 2020 commencement ceremony.[9]Other notable guest speakers during the virtual ceremony includedRedditco-founder and commencement speakerAlexis Ohanian,philanthropist and former New York City MayorMichael Bloomberg,Anthony Fauci,director of theNational Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseasesand a leading member of theWhite House Coronavirus Task Forceand senior class president Pavan Patel.[10]

Personal life[edit]

Jackson and her partner Frank Thorp, a producer and off-air reporter for NBC News, announced the birth of their first child, a daughter, on March 9, 2020.[11]
