Ahanten(Phán triền)(alsoBán triền,Bán thiênorPhán thiên) is a short winter coat and an item of traditionalJapanese clothing.Thehantenstarted to be worn, especially by the common people, in the 18th century, duringJapan'sEdo period(1603-1867).

The shape of thehantenbears a resemblance to anoragi,a traditionalpatchworkjacket, and thehaori,and is worn by both men and women. The facing and lining are padded with thick layers ofwadded cottonfor warmth. The collar is usually made of blacksateen.Hantenoften display afamily crestor other designs.
