Hovk(Armenian:Հովք) is a village in theDilijan Municipalityof theTavush ProvinceinArmenia.In 1988–1989 Armenian refugees from Azerbaijan settled in the village;[2]refugees fromGetashen,the villages ofShamkhoras well as from Martunashen (present-dayQarabulaq) resettled in the village.[3]
Etymology
[edit]The village was originally known asHaqqikhli.In 1978, it was renamed honor ofAzeripoet and dramatistSamed Vurghun(1906-1956), a winner of theLenin Prize.[4]After the independence of Armenia, on April 3, 1991, by the decision of the Supreme Council of Armenia,Samed Vurghunwas renamedHovk.[5]
