Humelicë(Aromanian:UmelitsaorUmelitse) is a village inGjirokastër County,southernAlbania.[1]At the 2015 local government reform it became part of the municipality ofGjirokastër.[2]It is inhabited by anOrthodox Christianpopulation ofAromanianswith a minority of Orthodox ChristianAlbanians.[3]

Demographics[edit]

According toOttomanstatistics, the village had 97 inhabitants in 1895.[4]The village had 412 inhabitants in 1993, of which majority were OrthodoxAromaniansand the rest were ChristianAlbanians.[3]The village today has a decreased permanent population of roughly 200 inhabitants, notably due to migration toGreeceor other countries. Despite this, the population doubles inEaster,SummerandChristmas,as most people return to their village to celebrate or have holidays with their families.
