ISO 3166-2:LVis the entry forLatviainISO 3166-2,part of theISO 3166standardpublished by theInternational Organization for Standardization(ISO), which definescodesfor the names of the principalsubdivisions(e.g.,provincesorstates) of allcountriescoded inISO 3166-1.
Currently for Latvia, ISO 3166-2 codes are defined for36 municipalities and 7 state cities.The seven state cities have special status equal to the municipalities.
Each code consists of two parts, separated by a hyphen. The first part isLV,theISO 3166-1 alpha-2code of Latvia. The second part is either of the following:
- three digits: municipalities
- three letters: state cities
