ISO 3166-2:ML

ISO 3166-2:MLis the entry forMaliinISO 3166-2,part of theISO 3166standardpublished by theInternational Organization for Standardization(ISO), which definescodesfor the names of the principalsubdivisions(e.g.,provincesorstates) of allcountriescoded inISO 3166-1.

Currently for Mali, ISO 3166-2 codes are defined for1 district and 10 regions.The districtBamakois the capital of the country and has special status equal to the regions.

Each code consists of two parts, separated by a hyphen. The first part isML,theISO 3166-1 alpha-2code of Mali. The second part is either of the following:

  • three letters: district
  • 1 or 2 digits (1–10): regions

The codes for the regions are assigned roughly from west to east.
