ISO 3166-2:YE

ISO 3166-2:YEis the entry forYemeninISO 3166-2,part of theISO 3166standardpublished by theInternational Organization for Standardization(ISO), which definescodesfor the names of the principalsubdivisions(e.g.,provincesorstates) of allcountriescoded inISO 3166-1.

Currently for Yemen, ISO 3166-2 codes are defined for1 municipality and 21 governorates.The municipalitySana'ais the capital of the country and has special status equal to the governorates.

Each code consists of two parts, separated by a hyphen. The first part isYE,theISO 3166-1 alpha-2code of Yemen. The second part is two letters.
