ITE College Central(ITECC) is a post-secondary education institution andstatutory boardunder the purview of theMinistry of EducationinSingapore.

It is one of theInstitute of Technical Education's three colleges under the "One ITE System, Three Colleges" Governance and Education Model. The college also houses the headquarters of the Institute of Technical Education.

Campus

Covering a land area of 10.61 hectares with a total gross floor area of 192,820m2,the campus opened to its first cohort of students in January 2013. The campus was officially opened on 8 November that year by thenPrime MinisterLee Hsien Loong.[1]

The Tay Eng Soon Convention Centre was named afterTay Eng Soonto commemorate his ministerial service in theMinistry of Education(MOE), who spearheaded the development ofpolytechnicsand institutes for technical training in Singapore.[2]

Then Prime MinisterLee Hsien Loonggave his National Day Rally speech at the Tay Eng Soon Convention Centre from 2013 to 2023 (except 2020 and 2021, due to theCOVID-19 pandemic).[3][4]

Academic schools and courses

ITE College Central has four schools; School of Business & Services, School of Design & Media, School of Electronics & Info-Communications Technology and School of Engineering, running a total of 51 courses.

Incident

The ITE examinations director, Low Hwee Geok alias Michelle Low, was found dead at the ITE College Central campus carpark after being allegedly stabbed by her ex-husband on 19 July 2018. Her ex-husband,Seet Cher Hng,was arrested on 20 July and charged with murder the following day. For the charge of murdering Low by inflicting a fatal injury, Seet was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2021.
