Geography
[edit]Northern Ancient Egypt was known asmḥw,which means "north".[7]Inebu-hedj was one of the 20 nomes inLower Egyptand it was designated as district number 1, the primary district.
TheNiwt(main city) wasMeneferorMemphis(part of modernMit Rahina).[2][3][4][5][6]Saqqarawas among the other cities of the region.
History
[edit]Every nome was ruled by anomarch(provincial governor) who answered directly to theking.[2][3][4][5]
Everyniwthad aHut netjer(temple) dedicated to the chiefdeityas well as aHeqa hut(nomarch's residence).[1]
The main deity of the district wasHorus.Apis,Hathor,Isis,Nefertem,Ptah,Seker,andSekhmetwere among others worshiped as major deities in the nome.[2][3][4][5][6]
As of 2017[update],the area is part of theCairo Governorate.
