Ivan Ivanovich Godlevsky(‹See Tfd›Russian:Иван Иванович Годлевский;March 9, 1908 inKholm Governorate,Russian Empire– August 20, 1998 inSaint Petersburg,Russia) was aSovietRussianpainter, a member of theSaint Petersburg Union of Artists(before 1992 — the Leningrad Union of Artists),[1]who lived and worked inLeningrad,regarded as a representative of theLeningrad school of painting,[2]most famous for his landscapes painted in decorative style.[3][4]

Biography

Ivan Godlevsky grew up in an orphanage. In 1925, he enrolled in an art school inMirhorod.In 1927, he transferred to the Kiev Art Institute and attendedArt Nouveauclasses byFedir Krychevsky.[5]
