Izumoshi Station(Xuất vân thị dịch,Izumoshi-eki)is a passengerrailway stationlocated in the city ofIzumo,Shimane Prefecture,Japan.It is operated by theWest Japan Railway Company(JR West).[1]Izumoshi Station is located 100 meters west of theIchibata Electric RailwayDentetsu Izumoshi Stationand there is no direct connection between buildings. Passengers wishing to change lines must exit the ticket gate to transfer between the two stations.

The station consists of two elevatedisland platformswith the station building underneath. The entry to the station has a doorway patterned after nearbyIzumo-taisha.The station is staffed and contains a convenience store and a tourist information office.

History

Izumoshi Station was opened asIzumo Imaichi Station(Xuất vân kim thị dịch)on 10 October 1910 when the San'in Main Line was extended fromShōbara Station.TheTaisha Linebegan operations on 1 June 1912. The San'in Main Line was further expended toOdaon 21 November 1913. The station was renamed to its present name on 1 April 1957. With the privatization of theJapan National Railway(JNR) on 1 April 1987, the station came under the aegis of the West Japan Railway Company (JR West). The Taisha Line was discontinued in 1990.
