Jacob Gagai(born 20 December 1995) is a professionalrugby leaguefootballerwho plays as awingerfor theHuddersfield Giantsin theSuper League.

He is the younger brother ofNewcastle Knightsplayer,Dane Gagai.[2]He is ofIndigenous Australiandescent from theBaduandYam Islandpeople.[3]

Playing career

South Sydney Rabbitohs

Gagai made his first grade debut for South Sydney againstManlyin round 1 of the2024 NRL seasonat theAllegiant Stadiumin Las Vegas. Gagai scored a try in South Sydney's 36-24 loss.[4] In round 8 of the 2024 NRL season, Gagai scored two tries for South Sydney in their 54-20 loss againstMelbourne.[5] In round 18, Gagai scored two tries for South Sydney in their 32-16 victory overParramatta.[6] The following week, he scored ahat-trickin South Sydney's 36-28 loss against theDolphins.[7] Gagai played 17 games for the club in the 2024 season and scored nine tries as they finished 16th on the table.[8] On 23 October 2024, Gagai was told his services were no longer required by the South Sydney club.[9]

Huddersfield Giants

On 14 November 2024, it was announced that Gagai had signed a two-year contract withHuddersfieldin theSuper League.[10][11]
