James Brian McAndrew(born September 2, 1967) is an American formerMajor League Baseball pitcherwho played for theMilwaukee Brewersin 1995 and 1997.

Early years

McAndrew was born inWilliamsport, Pennsylvania,^[1]the son of former Major League pitcherJim McAndrew.He attendedPonderosa High SchoolinParker, Colorado,and played high school football and baseball for the Ponderosa Mustangs.

McAndrew attended theUniversity of Floridain Gainesville, Florida, where he played for coachJoe Arnold'sFlorida Gators baseballteam from 1987 to 1989. In 1987, he playedcollegiate summer baseballwith theHyannis Metsof theCape Cod Baseball League.^[2]He was a member of the Gators'1988 College World Seriesteam, and was a second-team All-Southeastern Conferenceselection in 1989. He also was the startingpunterfor coachGalen Hall'sFlorida Gators footballteam in1986and1987.^[3]

Drafted by theLos Angeles Dodgersin the first round of the1989 Major League Baseball draft,McAndrew made hisMajor League Baseballdebut with theMilwaukee Brewerson July 17, 1995, and appeared in his final game on July 23, 1997.

McAndrew was areplacement playerfor theMilwaukee Brewersduringspring trainingprior to the1995 season.Replacement players took over for professional baseball players when theMajor League Baseball Players Association went on strike.The strike was resolved at the end of spring training.
