Jasobanta Dasa(Odia:ଯଶୋବନ୍ତ ଦାସ,romanized:Jasobanta Dāsa,Odia:[d͡ʒɔsobɔnt̪ɔd̪aːsɔ];bornc. 1487) was anOdia poet,litterateurand mystic. He was one of the five great poets inOdia literature,thePanchasakhanamed SriAnanta Dasa,SriJagannatha Dasa,SriBalarama Dasaand SriAchyutananda Dasaduring theBhakti ageof literature. He is known for his workPrema Bhakti Brahma Gita.[5]

Personal life[edit]

Early life of Jasobanta is mainly sourced from the workJasobanta Dasanka Chaurashi Agyan(Eighty-four arts of Jasobanta Dasa) by one of his disciples Sudarshan Das.[5]He was born at village Adhanga, Jagatsinghpur, part of undividedCuttack District.His father's name was Jagu Mallika and his mother's name was Rekha Dei.[5]He came to Puri by the inspiration ofSri Chaitanya.He got initiated intoVaishnavismduring Srichaitanya's stay in Puri.[2]
