Vice AdmiralSir Jeremy Joe Blackham,KCB(born 10 September 1943) is a formerRoyal Navyofficer who served asDeputy Commander-in-Chief Fleet.

Blackham joined theRoyal Navyin 1961.[1]He becamecommanding officersuccessively of theTon-class minesweeperHMSBeachampton,thefrigateHMSAshantiand then thedestroyerHMSNottingham.[1]He was appointed Director of theRoyal Navy Staff Collegein 1986, Director of Naval Plans at theMinistry of Defencein 1989 and then Commanding Officer of theaircraft carrierHMSArk Royal,which was deployed in theAdriatic Seaat the start of theBosnian Warin 1992, before becoming Chief of Staff atNaval Home Commandin 1993.[2]He went on to be Director-General of Naval Personnel Strategy at the Ministry of Defence before being madeAssistant Chief of the Naval Staff(and, concurrently, President of theRoyal Naval College, Greenwich) in 1995.[1]His last appointments were asDeputy Commander-in-Chief Fleetin 1997 and thenDeputy Chief of the Defence Staff (Equipment Capability)in 1999 before retiring in 2002.[1]

In retirement Blackham became UK President ofEADS,the defence contractor.[3]Since January 2003 he has served as editor ofThe Naval Review.[4]
