Jitendra Joshiis an Indian actor and reality show host who predominantly works inMarathi cinema.[1]He is well known for his lead role as SantTukaramMaharaj in the 2012 marathi movieTukaram.He starred as constable Katekar in the hitNetflixtelevision seriesSacred Games.[2]
Early life
[edit]Joshi was born on 27 January 1979 inPune,Maharashtra,and was raised inMarwarifamily.[3]
Career

Joshi also wrote the popular song "Kombadi Palali",which was later remixed as"Chikni Chameli".He got his first recognition from theZee Marathidaily soapGhadlay Bighadlaywhere he playedKrishna.In 2011, he hostedMarathi Paaul Padte Pudhe,a talent reality show on theZee Marathi.[4]In Marathi he played title role of Sant Tukaram inTukaram(film released in 2012) and a comic role inGuldasta.Not only as a hero, but he has also appeared as Sai, a villain character in the filmDuniyadari(2013).[5]In 2016, he co-starred in the critically acclaimed dramedyVentilator,which was produced byPriyanka Chopra.His performance in the film was widely praised.[6][7]In 2018, he starred in the Netflix Original SeriesSacred Gamesalongside Saif Ali Khan where he played the role of constable Katekar.
In 2021 Joshi won theBest Actor Awardat52nd International Film Festival of Indiafor his role as Nishikant Deshmukh in Nikhil Mahajan's Marathi filmGodavari.
He was also impressive as the devious villager in Netflix'sThar(2022).
