John K. Collum(June 29, 1926 — August 28, 1962) was an American child actor. He appeared in manyOur Gangfilms of the 1930s as the characterUh-Huh.
Career
[edit]Born inChicago, Illinois,Collum was the son ofHal Roach's casting director, Joseph Collum.[citation needed]He first appeared in the 1932 short,Free Wheeling.He was never a regular cast member and portrayed a character namedUh-Huh.Uh-Huh answered most of his questions with a drawn-out "Uh-huuuuuh". After 1933, Collum was used as an extra whenever a large group of children was needed. He appeared in many films from 1934 to 1938. His final appearance in the Our Gang series is in the 1938 shortThree Men in a Tub.
Death
[edit]Two months past his 36th birthday, Collum died of aheart attackinLos Angeles.He is interred in theValhalla Memorial Park CemeteryinNorth Hollywood.[1]
