John Wilshere(born 5 May 1978) is aPapua New Guineanformer professionalrugby leaguefootballer who last played for theSalford City Reds.[1][2]

Playing career[edit]

Wilshere had represented Papua New Guinea many times and was a key player in their squad at the2008 Rugby League World Cupin Australia.

His previous clubs included theLeigh Centurions,Warrington Wolvesand theNational Rugby League'sSt George Illawarra DragonsandMelbourne Storm.

Wilshere scored 538 points for theNorths Devilsin theQueensland Cup.[3]

Wilshere scored 358 points for theEasts Tigersin theQueensland Cup.[4]

Representative career[edit]

Wilshere was captain of thePapua New Guinea national rugby league teamfor the2008 Rugby League World Cup.[5]Wilshere was named as part of thePapua New Guineasquad for the2009 Pacific Cup.[6]

On 7 November 2009, Wilshere announced his retirement from the Kumuls.[7]
