Jonathan Gus Lind(April 14, 1948 – January 15, 2022), professionally known asJon Lind,was an American songwriter, performer and A&R executive.
Biography
[edit]Lind was born inBrooklyn, New Yorkon April 14, 1948,[1]and raised inNew York City.He studiedclassical guitarat theMannes College of Music.His first break was in the 1970s where he worked withBob Cavallo.During this period he met producerMaurice Whitewho recorded his songs withRamsey LewisandEarth, Wind and Fire.He was also a member of the bandHowdy Moonand the Fifth Avenue Band.
He wrote songs for artists such asMadonna,Cher,the Emotions,Jennifer Holliday,D.J. Rogers,Atlantic StarrandRamsey Lewis.In 1984, Lind signed withWarner Brothers.He was a Senior Vice President ofA&RatHollywood Records.[2]Lind died from cancer on January 15, 2022, at the age of 73.[3][1]
