Jonathan Barry Janse van Rensburg(born 27 February 1989 inPietermaritzburg,South Africa) is a South Africanrugby unionplayer forSlava Moscowin the RussianRugby Premier League.[1]His regular position is number eight.

UP Tuks / Blue Bulls

Janse van Rensburg played rugby forPretoria-based university sideUP Tuksbetween 2011 and 2014.

He was also included in theBlue Bullssquad for the2012 Currie Cup Premier Divisioncompetition, but failed to make any appearances for the Blue Bulls.

Griquas

In 2015, Janse van Rensburg moved toKimberleyto joinGriquas.After being an unused substitute in their opening match of the2015 Vodacom Cupseason against theEastern Province KingsinPort Elizabeth,[2]he made his first class debut in their next match, a 19–12 victory over theSWD EaglesinGeorge.[3]He made his first senior start in their next match against theBorder BulldogsinHartswater[4]and also scored one try for Griquas during the season, in a 27–24 victory over aSharks XVin Round Six of the competition.[5]He helped Griquas finish second on the log to qualify for the quarter-finals, where they lost 14–28 to eventual champions thePumas.[6]

He made four appearances off the bench for Griquas in the2015 Currie Cup qualificationtournament, contributing two tries – one in a 48–17 win over theBoland Cavaliers[7]and the other in a 57–33 win over theFalcons[8]– to help Griquas finish top of the log[9]to earn a place in the2015 Currie Cup Premier Divisioncompetition.[10]
