Jutta Bauer
Jutta Bauer(born 9 January 1955) is a German writer and illustrator of children's books. For her "lasting contribution" as a children's illustrator she received theHans Christian Andersen Medalin 2010.[1][2]
Life
[edit]Born inVolksdorf,Hamburg,she studied at theTechnical College of Designin Hamburg from 1975 to 1981[3]Afterward she worked as a children's book illustrator and as cartoonist for the women's magazineBrigitte.
She won theDeutscher Jugendliteraturpreis(German Youth Literature Award) in 2001 for thepicture bookSchreimutter,which she wrote and illustrated. She was a runner-up in 2002 forOpas Engeland she received a Special prize for Illustration in 2009.
The biennialHans Christian Andersen Awardconferred by theInternational Board on Books for Young Peopleis the highest recognition available to a writer or illustrator of children's books. Bauer received the illustration award in 2010.[1][2]
She currently resides in Hamburg.[3]
