KUJZ(95.3FM,"Sports Radio, 95.3 The Score" ) is acommercialradio stationlicensedtoCreswell, Oregonand broadcasting to theEugene-Springfieldradio market.[2]The station is owned byCumulus Mediaand the broadcast license is held by Cumulus Licensing LLC. It airs asports radioformat,with severalsports bettingshows each day. The studios and offices are on Executive Parkway in Eugene.

KUJZ is aClass C3station. It has aneffective radiated power(ERP) of 1,750watts.Thetransmitteris on Blanton Road in Eugene, amid thetowersfor other local FM and TV stations.[3]

KUJZ carries programming from theInfinity Sports NetworkandBetQL Networkmost of the day. A local call-in show focusing onUniversity of OregonandPac-10teams is hosted weekday afternoons by Steven Tannen. Thenationally syndicatedJim Rome Showis heard in late mornings. KUJZ is the Eugene outlet forOregon Ducksfootballandbasketballbroadcasts as well asSeattle Seahawksfootball.

History

The stationsigned onthe air in 1985;39 years ago(1985).The originalcall signwas KZAM-FM. It had anadult album alternative(AAA) format. In late 1988, KZAM-FM changed to a satellite-fed “Pure Gold”oldiesformat.

In 1990, new owners changed the call letters to KAVE and started a new adult album alternative format as "95.3 The KAVE". In 1993, the format changed to the satellite-fed “Z-Rock,"aheavy metal rockformatsimulcastingwith AM 1320 KZZK. 95.3's call letters were changed to KZZK-FM. In 1995, the format changed toalternative rockas "New Rock 95.3 NRQ" with new call letters KNRQ-FM.

In 2001, after KNRQ's format and call letters moved to 97.9 (the former KKTT), 95.3 FM changed to Eugene'sSmooth Jazzas 95.3 KUJZ. In 2004, it changed tocountry musicas “95.3 The Moose”. The station wasautomatedwith noDJs.In 2009, KUJZ dropped country and picked up AM 1320KSCR'ssports radioformat, using programming from CBS Sports Radio (nowInfinity Sports Network). KSCR has since gonedark.
