Location
[edit]The districts surrounding Kakumiro District includeHoima Districtto the north,Kyegegwa Districtto the north-east,Kiboga Districtto the east,Mubende Districtto the south-east,Kyegegwa Districtto the south, andKibaale Districtto the west.[3]The town ofKakumiro,the location of the district headquarters, is approximately 182 kilometres (113 mi), by road, north-west ofKampala,Uganda's capital city.[4]This location is approximately 80 kilometres (50 mi), by road, south ofHoima,the nearest large town.[5]
Overview
[edit]The district was created by thegovernment of Uganda,effective 1 July 2016, whenKibaale Districtwas split into three creating the current districts of Kagadi, Kakumiro and Kibaale.[6]
Population
[edit]In July 2017, the population of Kakumiro District was estimated at approximately 300,000 people.[2]
