Karel Klostermann(German:Karl Klostermann;13 February 1848 – 17 July 1923) was aCzech-Germanwriter. He wrote under the aliasFaustin.[1]
Biography
[edit]Klostermann was born on 13 February 1848 inHaag am Hausruck,Upper Austria.From 1857 to 1865, he went to school inPísekin what is now theCzech Republic.He studied medicine until 1869 inVienna,and was later active as a teacher ofGermanandFrenchat the German high school inPlzeň.He first wrote his works in German; later he turned to the Czech language and wrote novellas about the inhabitants of the middleBohemian Forest.This can be found in the collectionV srdci šumavských hvozdů( "In the heart of the Bohemian Forest" ). Some of his novellas are set in and around the town ofKašperské Hory.
Klostermann died on 17 July 1923 inŠtěkeň,at the age of 75.
