Karkaar

Karkaaris amountain rangewhich ranges from Somalia's northwestern border with Ethiopia, untilCape Guardafui.[1]It is also an administrative region defined by the autonomousPuntlandstate. The territory occupies the south of what has traditionally been theBariregionof Somalia, and generally lies south of the Karkaar mountain range.[2]

Since theSomali Civil War,the Karkaar mountains are often referred to as theGolis Mountains.According to theCULTURAL ORIENTATION SOMALIpublished by theDefense Language Institutein 2020, the Golis Mountains is another name for the Galgala Hills, part of the Karkaar mountain range. and theOgo Highlandsare south of the Karkaar mountain range.[3]
