Kazipetis the major educational and transport hub inHanumakonda districtin the Indian state of Telangana. It is a city inWarangal Tri-City,and a mandal in Hanamakonda district. Kazipet falls under Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation.
Previously Kazipet was a separate city within Warangal. The three urban cities Kazipet,HanamkondaandWarangalare together known as Warangal Tri-City. The cities are connected byNational Highway 163.The major stations areKazipet Junction railway stationandWarangal railway station.[2]

Railway junction

Kazipet railway stationis an important station that connectsNorthandSouth India,[3]and hosts a locomotive (largely diesel) maintenance division.[4]
In October 2023, theHadapsar-HyderabadExpress was extended to Kazipet.[5]

Culture
[edit]Syed Shah Afzal Biabani (1795 – 1856 A.D / 1210 – 26Safar,1272AH) was aSufifromWarangal,Hyderabad State(now Kazipet 132 km fromHyderabad, India). He was appointedKaziof Warangal during the reign ofNizam Ali Khan(Asaf Jah II). Thus the name Kazipet. Hisdargahis among Warangal's pilgrimage centers.[6]
The word "Biabani" indicates a type of rural area inPersianandUrdu.He received this nickname because he spent 12 years in Tasawwuf (a form of Sufi meditation) in the caves located in the forest of Battupalli near Kazipet.[7]
