Kelly Jeromy Willie(born September 7, 1982) is an American formertrack and fieldathlete who specialized in the400-meter dash.
Born and raised inHouston, Texas,he attendedSterling High Schooland competed in track while there. Willie attendedLouisiana State Universityand ran for theirLSU Tigersteam, being a three-time NCAA champion in the relay and the 400 m runner-up in 2004. He ran for the American4×400-meter relayteam at the2004 Olympics,[1]
With strong American 400 metre runners likeAndrew Rock,Derrick Brew,Darold Williamsonand Wariner (who constituted the gold-winning relay team at the2005 World Championships), and evenLaShawn Merritt,Jamel AshleyandTerry Gatson,Willie has faced extremely tough competition in terms of qualifying for major international events where only three participants from each state are allowed.[2]
