Kennedy Valentine Burke(born February 14, 1997) is an American professionalbasketballplayer for theNew York Libertyof theWomen's National Basketball Association(WNBA). She was drafted by theDallas Wingsin the2019 WNBA draft,and has played for theIndiana Fever,Seattle Storm,and theWashington Mysticsin theWNBA.

Burke completed hercollegecareer with theUCLA Bruinsof theUniversity of California, Los Angelesin 2019.

Early life

Burke is fromNorthridge, Los Angeles.Her father played professional basketball in the Mexican league and competed for the Panamanian national team.[1]Burke attendedSierra Canyon Schoolin nearbyChatsworth.[2]She has an older sister, Kody Burke, who played college basketball atNC State.[3]

Burke began her international career in Turkey, playing forBellona Kayseri Basketbolin theSuper Leaguewhere she averaged 18 points and eight rebounds a game; Kayersi also played in the truncated2020–21 EuroCup Womencompetition.[4]

During the 2020–2021 season, Burke played for theLega Basket Femminileteam Dinamo Sassari in Italy.[5]The following year she played forSpar Gironainthe Spanish league;[6]they competed in the2021–22 EuroLeague Womenseason.[7][8]

In 2022, Burke joinedESB Villeneuve-d'Ascqin France'sLigue Féminine de Basketball.[9][10][11]She has become a breakout star in the league and was named its Most Valuable Player two years in a row (2023, 2024).[12]The team played in the EuroCup and the2023 EuroLeague Qualifying Round;for the2023–2024 season,the team was promoted to the EuroLeague and were the runner-ups of the season. Burke was named All-EuroLeague Second Team and MVP of the Month in December,[13]among other honors
