Kevin Bruce Schneider[1]is aUnited States Air Forcegeneralwho has served as the commander of thePacific Air Forcessince 2024. He previously served asdirector of staff of the United States Air Forcefrom 2021 to 2024.[2]He also served as the commander of theUnited States Forces Japanand theFifth Air Force.[3]

Kevin Schneider was raised inSpringfield, Virginia,and graduated from theUnited States Air Force Academyin 1988 with a degree in engineering science.[4]He attendedEuro-NATO Joint Jet Pilot trainingatSheppard Air Force BaseinWichita Falls, Texas,and graduated in 1999. He attendedF-16 Fighting Falcontraining atMacDill Air Force Base,and was stationed atOsan Air BaseandMisawa Air Base.In 1996, he graduated from theUSAF Weapons School.He was then stationed atShaw Air Force Baseand as a Weapons School instructor atNellis Air Force Base.He served as theaide-de-campfor then-Chief of Staff of the Air ForceGeneralMichael E. Ryan.[2][5]He served as chief of the52nd Fighter WingWeapons and Tactics atSpangdahlem Air Base,and commanded the80th Fighter SquadronatKunsan Air Base.He attended theMarine Corps War College,and served as the deputy commander of the56th Operations Groupand as vice commander of the388th Fighter Wing.He commanded the80th Flying Training Wingat Sheppard Air Force Base, and the380th Air Expeditionary WingatAl Dhafra Air Base.He then served as the chief of staff of thePacific Air ForcesandIndo-Pacific CommandHeadquarters inHawaii.In February 2019, he assumed command ofFifth Air ForceandUnited States Forces Japan.[2][6][7]

In July 2021, he was nominated and confirmed to succeedTimothy FayasDirector of Staff of the United States Air Force.He assumed the position on September 8, 2021.[8][9]

In April 2023, Schneider was nominated for promotion to general and assignment as commander of thePacific Air Forces.[10][11]
