Kinsale, Virginia
Appearance
Kinsaleis anunincorporated communityinWestmoreland County,in theU. S. stateofVirginia.[1]It was named afterKinsale,in Ireland.[2]
During the War of 1812, theRoyal Marines Battalionsraided the entrance to theYeocomico River,which concluded with the capture of four schooners at the town of Kinsale, Virginia (August 1814).[3]
TheKinsale Historic Districtwas listed on theNational Register of Historic Placesin 2005.[4]There is a small museum near the town commons dedicated to its history. The community is the location of the headquarters of theBevans Oyster Company,which is a large employer in the area.[5]
