Kirby Morrow(August 28, 1973 – November 18, 2020)[1]was a Canadian actor, comedian and writer. In animation, he was known as the voice ofMirokufromInuYasha,its four movies, andInuyasha: The Final Act,Van Fanelfrom the Ocean dub ofEscaflowne,CyclopsfromX-Men: Evolution,Jay fromClass of the Titans,Teru MikamifromDeath Note,Trowa BartonfromMobile Suit Gundam Wing,Rey Za BurrelfromMobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny,Ryo TakatsukifromProject ARMS,Gokufrom Ocean's dub ofDragon Ball Z(from Episode 160 onwards), Hot Shot fromTransformers: Cybertronand his main role as Cole fromLEGO Ninjago: Masters of SpinjitzuuntilSeabound.On camera, he was known for the recurring role of Captain Dave Kleinman fromStargate Atlantis.[2]

Life and career

Morrow was born inJasper, Albertaon August 28, 1973, and graduated with a degree in theatre atMount Royal UniversityinCalgary.[3]He worked inVancouver, British Columbia,for most of his acting career. Morrow's grandfather, Robert Morrow, was born inPoyntzpass,Ireland in 1902, to Robert Morrow and Susan Davison. He married Alice McTague, fromCounty Antrim.[4][5][6][7]

Death

Morrow died at the age of 47 on November 18, 2020, just eight days after the death of his father, Tom Morrow.[8]His death was announced onFacebookby his brother, Casey Morrow, and linked to a long history of alcohol abuse.[2][9][10][11]

On December 4, 2020, Casey established the Kirby Morrow Memorial Scholarship Fund to help others pursue education in the performing arts.[12]

Morrow was cremated and his ashes scattered into the ocean nearStanley Park.[13]
