Kosmos 2444(Russian:Космос 2444meaningCosmos 2444) is one of a set of three set of threeRussianmilitarysatelliteslaunched in 2008 as part of theGLONASSsatellite navigation system. It was launched withKosmos 2442andKosmos 2443.
This satellites is a GLONASS-M satellite, also known as Uragan-M, and is numbered Uragan-M No. 726.[1]
Kosmos 2442/3/4 were launched fromSite 81/23atBaikonur Cosmodromein Kazakhstan. AProton-Mcarrier rocket with aBlok DMupper stage was used to perform the launch which took place at 08:49 UTC on 25 September 2008. The launch successfully placed the satellites intoMedium Earth orbit.It subsequently received itsKosmosdesignation, and theinternational designators2008-046C. TheUnited States Space Commandassigned it theSatellite Catalog Number33380.[1]
It is no longer part of the GLONASS constellation but was formerly in the third orbital plane, orbital slot 22.[4][5]
