TheKsani(Georgian:ქსანი,Ossetian:Чысандон,Ĉysandon) is a river in centralGeorgia,which rises on the southern slopes of the GreaterCaucasus Mountain RangeinSouth Ossetiaand flows into theKura(Mtkvari). It is a left tributary of theKura.The Ksani is 84 km (52 mi) long, and has adrainage basinof 885 km2(342 sq mi).[2]Ksani(both the river and the name) is often associated with theMedievalGeorgianKsani fortresswhich lies near the confluence of the Ksani and theMtkvari.
