l-Dopaquinonealso known aso-dopaquinoneis a metabolite ofL-DOPA(L-dihydroxyphenylalanine) and a precursor ofmelanin.[1][2]

Biosynthesisof melanin occurs inmelanocytes, wheretyrosineis converted into DOPA and then dopaquinone, which goes on to be formed into pheomelanin or eumelanin.[3]
