Transcription factor LBX1is aproteinthat in humans is encoded by theLBX1gene.

This gene and the orthologous mouse gene were found by theirhomologyto theDrosophilalady bird early and latehomeoboxgenes.

In the mouse, this gene is a key regulator of muscle precursorcell migrationand is required for the acquisition of dorsal identities of forelimb muscles.
