Lake Akkeshi, 11 metres (36 ft) deep at its deepest point, is fed by the Bekanbeushi River(Biệt hàn biên ngưu xuyên)and adjoins Akkeshi Bay. It is surrounded bysalt marsh,fens,andbogs.[2][3]

Birds

Since a part of this lake does not freeze,whooper swansand ducks winter there. Thewhite-tailed eagleandSteller's sea eaglealso visit.[4]There is a 381haJapanese cranesanctuary.[5]

Fishing and theaquacultureofoystersandclamsoccur in the lake.[5]
